Dems Make Fools Of Themselves
The Democrats are ridiculously about to pass a "non-binding resolution" rebuking the President's plan in Iraq. If these libs really had any guts, they would vote to stop funding the war. But they know that would be the wrong answer. The American people might not be happy about the situation in Iraq, but they are not ready to cut and run just as the Iraqis are getting on their feet and confronting insurgents.
What will this "non-binding resolution" accomplish? Absolutely nothing. It has no power behind it because the Democrats are AFRAID of putting any teeth into it. So nothing happens except the fact that Congress is making a political statement to all of our enemies. They are saying we no longer have the guts as a nation to hold out against threats when the going gets tough. It says that America no longer has any backbone and is quickly on its way to meeting the Roman Empire in the pages of history. It says that the next time we are attacked, the enemy will know just how long it takes for America to lose its resolve. All they have to do is hold out until we stop holding our breath.
It's really humorous that the Democrats voted to approve of a new General as the new Commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East, while at the same time voting to insult the President and the military.
The Democrats are not going to get what they want with this ridiculous, pennys-worth resolution. If I were President Bush, being rebuked by Democrats would be a badge of honor. I don't see why he should sweat it. I would be emboldened after a stupid, empty resolution like that. I might even pen an equally worthless Executive Order rebuking the Democrats for having no backbone, just to make a point.

Good thing the republicans never did anything like that...oh wait....they all ready have:>>The Republicans made many efforts to censure President Clinton on his handling of and engaging the United States military in the Kosovo War. They passed resolutions to debate the legality of war, they sought to withhold funds for the war and peacekeeping efforts, they even voted to not “support the troops” in what was for the most part a piece of fluff legislation. It is surprising now that the Republicans are acting so fiercely against Democrats taking action against President Bush and the Iraq War. During the Clinton Administration, there were not questions of how legislation was hurting the morale of the troops, there were however repeated questions about the Presidential powers invoked by Clinton in war making; questions that were absolutely legitimate. The current Republicans in Congress seem to have entirely given up their job of oversight of Presidential power; giving their responsibility in a system of checks and balances directly to President Bush without any after thought.

Show me which Republicans voted "not to support the troops". I'd really like to see that legislation. Provide me an HR Bill # or Senate Bill # to show where Congress voted "not to support the troops". That is a lie on your part. You will never find such a bill. Yes, I paid attention back then just like I do now.
The Kosovo action under Clinton was a NATO action. The way Clinton handled virtually everything under his watch was handled badly...from his seedy personal life, to his professional life as a crooked Arkansas hillbilly lawyer, to his time as a Governer, and eventually as a philandering, Oval Office-staining President. There isn't anything redeaming about Clinton.
You say that Republicans have "given up oversight of Presidential power". There are numerous Republicans who oppose the President on certain issues. There is no "unbreakable" support of President Bush by the current Republicans.
No checks and balances, hmm? OK...let's pretend you are right (which you aren't). Let's pretend that now Democrats are in power (and they are). What are Democrats to do? Are they going to pass anything but a "non-binding resolution" against President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq? Where are the "teeth" in any Democratic whining and crying routines? There are none to be found.
Democrats don't have the GUTS to cut funding for the war in Iraq because they KNOW that victory in Iraq is a necessity. Every poll shows that majority of American people do NOT want us out of Iraq without stabilizing the country first.
Democrats huff and they puff (insert imagery here), and threaten to blow the Republicans house down. But it's all a political front. They have NO INTENTION of stopping Bush from completing the war. They know like everyone else that losing would destroy the image of the United States for generations.
You are as hollow as your leaders. If you are so much against the war, call your Democrat Congressman or Senator and tell them to pass a resolution other than that JOKE of a non-binding resolution. Democrats have absolutely NO credibility on this issue at all. Hell, most of them voted FOR the war. Now they "apologize" for authorizing the President to wage the war. What a farce. If anything, they are supporting the President more than working against him with their current policies.
Lastly, and this is my favorite point: If Democrats ever DO decide to vote to cut off funding or place undue restrictions on President Bush, they run a real risk of Sen. Joe Lieberman switching to the Republican Party, thus giving Republicans control of the Senate. He's already stated there is such a possibility if Democrats do as I mentioned. So, what are Democrats to do? They can sit on their hands like good little puppies and do as they are told.
How can you be a Conservative Christian Republican as you claim to be and also be a transvestite/crossdresser as you obviously are?
I decided to publish the above comment, also from the great writer "Anonymous", just to show how ignorant some people are. They can't debate using their intellect and instead rely on basic instincts and childish schoolyard tactics that I continually laugh at.
